Fight For Right together with Women Veterans and Activists with Disabilities at the 2026 Women’s March: Photo Report
On International Women’s Day, Fight For Right led a column at the Women’s March together with women veterans, members of the LEADERKA DRIVE Movement, and disability rights activists.
Alongside three thousand other women and girls, we called for deinstitutionalization in Ukraine, the release of women from russian captivity, and the protection of our rights. We urged against restrictions proposed in the new draft of the Civil Code and the adoption of Draft Law No. 13037, which aims to combat harassment and discrimination within the army.
The Women’s March took place for the first time in the four years of the full-scale invasion. On the central streets of Kyiv, we marched in complete diversity: military, civilians, displaced people, volunteers, public figures, and businesswomen.
We chanted: “Fight for your rights! Believe in yourself! “Women’s rights are human rights,” and “Hands off women’s rights!”
Yuliia Sachuk, head of Fight For Right, highlighted in her speech that Kyiv is home to Europe’s largest boarding institution, where there are hundreds of women with disabilities, stripped of their fundamental rights. On Ukraine’s path to European integration, the institutional system and its state funding are the greatest evil. After all, tens of thousands of people do not have the right to an independent living simply because they have a disability.
Anzhelika, a participant in the March and the LEADERKA DRIVE movement, symbolically carried the Fight For Right flag at the head of the column, wearing the emblem of the “Maisternia Mrii” organization. Just a few years ago, she lived in a residential care facility. It was the work of human rights organizations and grassroots initiatives focused on independent living that gave her, and other women with disabilities, the chance to leave the walls of a resedential institution.
We at Fight For Right are fighting to ensure that these are not just isolated cases across Ukraine. We, women with disabilities, have the same rights as everyone else. We fight for equality until it becomes our daily reality.
We thank our partner organizations who were with us on this day.
