Disability Research Center (DRC)
The first analytical center in Ukraine that advocates human rights approach to disability in the development of state policies. Created by leading experts and scientists with disabilities in 2020, the center aims to accelerate state implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by promoting legislative and procedural changes.
The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is a framework document that Ukraine ratified on December 16, 2009. It consists of 50 mandatory articles.
Every four years, Ukraine provides the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities with a periodic report on progress in their achievements with the implementation of the Convention. Any Ukrainian civil society organization can submit alternative reports on state implementation of the provisions of the Convention.
